Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels have one remaining goal for the 2016 Season

Despite finishing the season with losses to bitter rivals, North Carolina still has one goal remaining to reach an important milestone for Tar Heel Football

One goal remains for UNC as they face No.16 Stanford in the Sun Bowl on December 30

  • Junior quarterback Mitch Trubisky stated that the Tar Heels goal was to win their last game
  • The Tar Heels finished their season 8-4 after losing to Duke and NC State in their last two FBS contests
  • UNC faces a tough game against Stanford who have won their last five contests, finishing with a 9-3 record 
  • Mitch Trubisky who averages 289 yards a game (15th in FBS) will play a big role in the Tar Heels ability to move the ball 
  • The Tar Heels defense will be challenged by Stanford's QB Keller Chryst who is 5-0 since taking over as starter
  • Head coach Larry Fedora led the team to an 8-4 record which is the third time in his five years at UNC wining at least 8 games
  • Stanford Head coach David Shaw stated that he is pleased with his team winning enough games to give them the opportunity to play in the bowl game 
  • The Bowl game marks the final game for 16 seniors for the Tar Heels 
  • A final victory would give UNC 20 wins. The first time UNC has hit 20 combined wins in consecutive seasons since 1996-97
