From High School To The NFL: Clemson QB Deshaun Watson

Scout digs through the archives to bring you the tape, evaluation and recruitment of Clemson quarterback and NFL hopeful Deshaun Watson.

High School Analysis:

The epitome of a field general, Watson is one of the few quarterbacks on either the college or the high school level who calls and adjusts plays at the line of scrimmage. Doesn't possess a huge arm, but has more than enough arm with a quick release and good accuracy. Can run if pressed, but definitely a pass-first quarterback - Scott Kennedy

A longtime visitor to Clemson, Deshaun Watson attended the Tigers' Dabo Swinney Football Camp ahead of his sophomore season and left with his first scholarship offer. It wasn't just Watson's first offer, it was Clemson's first offer of the 2014 class. Just a day after attending Clemson's Junior Day, Watson made it official and committed to the Tigers. Watson told Scout in 2012. "They offered me really early, before my sophomore season. I just fell in love with it. I knew from then that they really wanted me. The future is bright at Clemson. That played a big part."

Schools like Auburn and Florida State offered the elite quarterback but he maintained to Scout throughout his high school career that his commitment to Clemson was strong. Top Stories
