Wilkes Getting Early Looks

The American Canyon (Calif.) 2014 athlete, Robert Wilkes, has a few schools already checking on him...

American Canyon (Calif.) junior athlete Robert Wilkes has been hearing from a handful of schools, and thanks to his versatility, schools are plenty interested.

"I'm hearing from schools as a running back and as a safety," said Wilkes. "I prefer to play running back, but I'll play anywhere."

The 6-1, 200-pounder said that Colorado, Utah, Fresno State and Cal have been in the most contact, with Utah the most active.

"Utah has been connecting with me a lot and they said if I keep my grades up, an offer will come," said Wilkes. "Minnesota has also talked with me and said if I keep the grades up, they'll have an offer for me."

Wilkes has two senior teammates that are committed to Oregon and UNLV, Chris Seisay and Charles Spencer respectively, and he said their presence at American Canyon has been a boon to his recruitment.

"Having Chris and Charles here has helped a lot and its made college coaches come to see us," said Wilkes.

Wilkes didn't do any camps this past spring, but plans to hit a number of them come next spring.

Academically, he has a 3.0 and has taken the PSAT.

Brandon is in his eighth year with Scout.com, currently as a National Recruiting Analyst and West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout.com Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout.com network since 2003.
