Q: Thank you for joining us Bruce, please tell us about your recruitment and why you chose Fresno State:

A: I committed to Fresno State because as of right now, that’s the best fit for me. All the colleges, they all say the same thing. They all want you to see the campus. I went to a whole bunch of camps and they all told me if you come to the camp we will offer you. When I do so, they never do and I just stop hearing from. Fresno State, I love their coaches. It’s something different about them and the nature of them. That’s kind of why, they stuck with me so I’m going to stick with them.

Q: How did they first get in touch with you?

A: I guess they saw my film or my coach sent them my film. They liked it and I guess that’s what kicked off everything else. They came to the school and called me out of class. Coach Peterson, he’s a very down-to-earth coach. If a coach can hold down a conversation with you without explaining what they need out of you, that says a lot. He’s not selfish like so many other coaches. They will tell you about everything they need. With Peterson, it was about me and their program.

Q: What was the moment like when they offered you?

A: That was the first time I met (Peterson), that’s what made it so exciting. It was a big surprise.

It was jaw-dropping. It was very exciting. I was speechless. It was very exciting because I’ve worked super hard. It was a great moment. It’s a great feeling to know you have somewhere to go to college. I’m hyped about it.

Q: What do you know about Fresno State so far?

A: From what I see, it’s a great place to be. Very cool in nature. As of right now I like it. The nature of the school and the people. Doing my research and looking at videos, it just seemed like a cool place to be. And it’s in California and I know the people there are pretty cool.

Q: What other schools were recruiting you?

A: I had offers from Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, Texas Southern, McNeese State and Southeastern Louisiana. There is a long list of other schools that showed me interest.

Q: What can you tell us about yourself on the field?

A: I’m a pretty good player, but people kind of profile me for my height. I’m kind of an undersized linebacker. I bring a lot of fire to the team. I play with a lot of excitement. I love the game of football. I play fast and physical, it’s just in my nature.

I play outside in a 3-4 in high school, but Fresno State is looking at me for inside. Our schemes are very similar.
