Barkboard Staff San Diego St Game Predictions

Six games into in the season the Barkboard staff has shared their thoughts and predictions thus far and this week is no exception. The boys are back to share their latest on what to expect.

Last week’s winner was Lucio Ourique. So the boy’s are back and have had time to asses the situation heading into the home game against San Diego State.

LUCIO OURIQUE @redwavereport

We’re at the halfway point of the season and the Bulldogs are 1-5 heading into the game against San Diego State. Heading into the season there were hopes that the Bulldogs could make some noise in the division. Now we’re left wondering if they can win another game.

Last weeks loss to Nevada for Fresno State was another hard loss for the Red Wave. One that will have a direct effect on Stadium attendance for today’s game. If the Bulldogs are looking for the Red Wave crowd to give them a boost the may be hard pressed to find much of a crowd given the Bulldogs record and friday night high school games going on throughout the valley. Let’s face it. You might find more exciting games at one of many high school games throughout the valley.

PREDICTION: FRESNO STATE 10 - SAN DIEGO STATE 55

LORENZO J. REYNA @LJ_Reyna

Yes, San Diego State lost to South Alabama.

But, this is still - from a talent and experience standpoint - the best team in the Mountain West, and could be the team that jeopardizes Fresno State's bowl hopes with a win tonight.

Fresno State has struggled against the run, with setting up the run and getting any consistent rhythm on offense. The Aztecs have been stout with their running attack and with their defense. Already bad news for the Bulldogs.

THE PREDICTION: SAN DIEGO STATE 35, FRESNO STATE 10

JACKSON MOORE @JacksonM_Scout

This is a game that doesn’t require too much analysis. If it plays out as it looks on paper, San Diego State will run, run and run some more in a dominant fashion.

Last year the Bulldogs fell only 21-7, but the game was as dominant as they come. The Bulldogs managed only 89 yards in that game and 12 with the running game. The Bulldogs can’t possibly struggle as greatly as they did at SDSU last year, but the score could easily end up being more lopsided.

Expect San Diego State’s one-two punch on the ground game to have success as most of the Bulldogs’ opponents have this season. The Aztecs pick up big chunks of yardage and sustain long drives, while defensively causing problems for Chason Virgil with the 3-3-5 defense.

Coach DeRuyter has said the young team sometimes needs some extra juice to get going, and there won’t likely be many Red Wavers to provide that spark on a Friday night.

PREDICTION: SAN DIEGO STATE 35 - FRESNO STATE 13
