2018 Valley QB Prospect Braden Wingle on the Rise!

Bakersfield Christian produced Derek Carr and now a new quarterback in Braden Wingle is tearing up this season.

Junior Quarterback prospect Braden Wingle of Bakersfield Christian looks poised to position himself as one of the top QB’s heading into his senior year. While much of the attention is taken by Adrian Martinez of Clovis West as the top 2018 QB prospect in the valley, Wingle is quietly playing himself into being one of the top quarterbacks of the 2018 recruiting class in the valley as well.

Bakersfield Christian has produced great quarterbacks such as Fresno State Bulldog and current Oakland Raider Derek Carr. Wingle is no exception. Currently Wingle is leading the Central Section in passing and currently fifth in the state of California with 2540 yards passing with 27 touchdowns.

Wingle has benefited from a Bakersfield Christian coaching staff that's looking to build a strong tradition at the school. The young quarterback is being lead by head coach Darren Carr who has all the confidence in him as the signal caller. Wingle has learned to read defenses well while being mentored by offensive coordinator David Carr, and quarterback coach Roger Carr which has helped him to become one of the top quarterbacks by shredding defenses.

Although Wingle is a junior, programs have started to show interest in the young quarterback. Programs such as Utah and Cal-Berkeley, but i have a feeling that it’s not going to stop there. With the type of success that Wingle has had this season it's a matter time before other programs take notice.

Analysis:

Braden Wingle has all the tools and skills necessary to succeed at the division I level as a pocket passer. He’s got a good feel and presence while in the pocket and not as comfortable throwing when flushed out. He’s got great arm strength and accuracy to stretch the field when needed. Wingle has great awareness and understanding of how to read defenses and where to throw the ball. If there’s one area that he could use some work i would say footwork. At times his footwork is a little off which leads to him throwing off of his back foot but he’s able to compensate with his arm strength. This is something that can easily be corrected.

Fresno State Impact:

With the recent firing of Coach Deruyter things are up in the air as far as recruiting is involved. However, the Bulldogs did make an offer to another 2018 quarterback recruit in Adrian Martinez which is more than likely going to go elsewhere. There’s no telling what kind of recruiting philosophy is going to be put into place once the new head coach is hired, but Fresno State would be wise to get on Wingle early especially with the connection they have with the Carr family.
