D. Taylor, Hopkins earn Mountain West honors

Fresno State guards Deshon Taylor and Jaron Hopkins were honored by both the Mountain West coaches and media.

The Mountain West head coaches selected Deshon Taylor to their All-Mountain West Third-Team and honored Jaron Hopkins with one of the six spots on the All-Mountain West Defensive Team. Specifically in his 13 starts, Deshon Taylor averaged 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals while Jaron Hopkins ranks 17th in the nation at 2.1 steals per game on the season.

Defensive Player of the Year: San Diego State guard Dakarai Allen

Freshman of the Year: Utah State guard Koby McEwen

Newcomer of the Year: Nevada guard Marcus Marshall

Sixth Man of the Year: Wyoming guard Justin James

Coach of the Year: Larry Eustachy, Colorado State

On Sunday, the Mountain West media voters also awarded Deshon Taylor and Jaron Hopkins. The media picked Deshon Taylor to the All-Mountain West Second-Team and Jaron Hopkins to their All-Mountain West Third-Team.  

Taylor also received vote(s) for Mountain West Newcomer of the Year and Jaron Hopkins received vote(s) for Defensive PLayer of the Year.
