Adrian Martinez Talks Fresno State Visit

The Barkboard's Lucio Ourique caught up with Clovis West QB Adrian Martinez to get an update on his injury and recruiting status.

Adrian Martinez has come a long way since receiving his first offer from Fresno State as a sophomore. Now as he enters his senior year, Martinez currently sits on 24 offers throughout the country. Ranked as the 5th best quarterback in CA and 21st, in the country that list could grow even more before it’s all said and done.

While the offers keep rolling in Martinez had already committed to California before his junior season, but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping his options open. Who could blame him with so many options and a coaching change at the University of California.

Said Martinez, "It’s been a learning process getting to know the new coaching staff at Cal and the more I do the more I feel comfortable.”

While Martinez has been getting to know the new coaching staff at Cal he has been keeping his options open by taking visits to other schools and planning others throughout the year. Even with all that’s going on, Martinez took the time to visit his home town school of Fresno State recently to see what direction the program is headed. Martinez came away from his recent visit intrigued by the possibility of playing for the home team.

“It’s definitely something I’ve thought about," Martinez said. "I could probably come in and have a good opportunity to play early. I would have my family and friends here to come out and watch me play.”

Martinez hasn’t counted out the Bulldogs as a landing spot but with so many choices to choose from it’s one that he’s taking his time to really think through.

FRESNO STATE IMPACT:

Even though Martinez still has the Bulldogs in his top schools, landing him could be a long shot. Should Martinez somehow choose the Bulldogs, his mental and physical skills would make him the obvious choice to compete for the starting position. His mobility and football IQ would make him the dual threat the Bulldogs could thrive on.
