Three-star recruits from Fresno State assistant's alma mater have offers from Bulldogs

Milpitas three-star athlete Tuni Fifita discusses his recruitment with the Bulldogs.

Fresno State running backs coach Jamie Christian went to his high school stomping grounds earlier this year to spot out some potential preferred walk-ons that slipped through the cracks. The Bulldogs were also the first to offer class of 2018 wide receiver Tuni Fifita back in January. Since then, he has jumped to three-star recruit status with five more Mountain West offers, along with Utah and Washington State.

Fifita said his main point of contact had been personnel assistant Brian Clay, who has since moved onto a position with the New York Jets. Fifita and his 7-on-7 team tripped to Bulldog Stadium for a spring practice.

“Fresno State has nice facilities,” Fifita said. “He took us around and we watched their practice… The receivers and the quarterback was connecting real well that day. It was nice.”

At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, some schools are eyeing Fifita as a tight end - Fresno State is one of them. Fifita describes himself as a versatile player - with some schools looking at him at even quarterback or linebacker.

“I think they want me as a tight end most likely,” Fifita said about Fresno State. “They said they want me to bulk up a little more before then.

Otherwise, Fifita mentioned of Fresno State, “I know a lot about Coach Tedford. That’s his alumn and his home.”

Right now, Fresno State has some catching up to do in his recruitment, but en effort to do so can be expected with the Milpitas and Coach Christian connection. He listed Utah, Washington State and San Jose State as the three schools standing out to him most at the moment.

Another Milpitas prospect to watch for is 3-Star athlete Tariq Bracy. Bracy also visited Fresno State for the spring junior day.
