After the CAA voted to keep Georgia State and Old Dominion out of CAA championships during the 2012-2013 year, GSU and the Sun Belt Conference have announced that student-athletes from 10 Georgia State sports will be eligible to participate in postseason play in the Sun Belt Conference in 2012-13.

Georgia State University officially accepted an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference in all sports starting in Fall of 2013. The conference change comes with it a step up to FBS, formerly Division 1-A, football and marks GSU as the first school since Western Kentucky in 2009 to jump from FCS to FBS in football.

Fresh off its victory over Drexel in the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association championship, Virginia Commonwealth will begin its quest for a return to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament when it squares off against No 5 Wichita State as the 12th seed in the West Regional in Portland, Oregon, on March 16.

Georgia State opened the CAA Tournament with a 85-50 victory over the Hofstra Pride Friday night in Richmond, VA. The Panthers gave perhaps their best performance of the season and in doing so sent a message to the rest of the conference.

Georgia State honored six seniors who were playing in their last game, but were unable to honor them with a victory as they fell to Old Dominon in overtime 65-60. The Panthers also are now locked into the 6th seed in the CAA tournament and will face Hofstra next Friday.

Georgia State came out of the gates firing on all cylinders en route to a 82-71 victory over the UTSA roadrunners. The win was the Panthers 19th of the season and their 11th in CAA play. Georgia State will now face Old Dominion on Wednesday in the final home game of the year.

Georgia State returned home to the Sports Arena Monday night to face the Dukes of James Madison University. The Panthers were coming off a two game losing streak, but returned to the form they showed during a school record 11 game win streak by beating JMU.

The Georgia State Panthers knocked-off the VCU Rams Wednesday night to extend their win streak to 11 and claim sole possession of the top spot in the CAA standings. The Panthers ended VCU's eight-game winning streak, winning for the first time ever at VCU's Siegel Center. Their 11-3 records marks the best season start in school history.

Georgia State defeated Georgia Southern Saturday night 72-52. The victory gave the Panthers their ninth straight win which set a new school record. Coach Ron Hunter has led his team to their best start in a decade, since the 2000-2001 team started off 11-1.
