King Ready for Big Things At GSU

Georgia State struggled on the field this season and seemed to struggle with guys stepping up and being leaders on the field. With the commitment of Melvin King from Liberty County HS, the Panthers look to have a confident readymade leader who is ready to take GSU by storm. continues our signing day coverage by sitting down with GSU defensive signee Melvin King. King was recruited to play a hybrid of defensive end and outside linebacker, much like the position Jake Muasau has manned for the Panthers. One thing that was clear after talking to the Liberty County product is that he is ready to come in and make big things happen.

“I am coming to Georgia State to play against the top schools in the nation,” King commented. “I am going to go in there and break records and make history.”

Much like some of the other prospects, King came away from his visit to campus very impressed with the facilities at GSU.

“I really liked the practice field,” King continued. “I also really liked the idea of playing in the Georgia Dome.”

With the lack of depth along the defensive line, King certainly will have the opportunity to come in and play early for GSU. He most likely will need to add some bulk before seeing major time. But one thing is certain: King has the confidence and the drive to accomplish anything he sets his mind to.
