The call to Charles came at the right time. "The timing of your call is just perfect," said Charles. "We're putting together a media list of those we have been in contact with and who have expressed interest in being there when Julian announces his decision."
The Royals have moved up the date to make Julian's college choice. "We have cancelled the visit to Wake Forest; they're great folks and we don't mean them any disrespect, but we're focused on the two Georgia schools and didn't want to waste their time, money, or resources…at this point."
Prior to the decision being made, the Royals received a visit from Georgia Tech coaches Paul Hewitt and Darryl LaBarrie. "It was good face time," said Charles. "I guess this was the last time they could do an off campus visit and while there was nothing really new to discuss…they provided details and reviewed how much they value Julian and It's always a good time when they're around."
While the schools on Julian's list have been pared down to Georgia and Georgia Tech, no decision has been made yet on Julian's choice. "I suggested Julian may want to talk to some of his relatives, who have their feet in the basketball world, before he makes the final call and he may or may not do that."
In a previous interview Charles talked about the whiteboard that they would be using to list positives and negatives about each school. Will they still be using that board? Yes, we'll look at every aspect of college life and will grade the two schools…of course, their basketball programs, coaches, players in the NBA."
As mentioned earlier the plan is not to notify the school of choice until the announcement is made. "We're still not sure how we'll do that but, they will know along with everyone else when he calls their name on October 14th at Milton.
