Stephen Williams Catching Some Eyes

Savannah Calvary High School athlete Stephen Williams' successful senior season is beginning to pay dividends. Stephen has three offers to date but there are several other schools that are noticing his play and are starting to recruit him. Williams will be taking a November visit to one of those schools.

Stephen Williams is a 6'1 1/2" – 195 versatile athlete who fills many roles for his high school team. ‘My coach considers me the main versatile athlete on his team," said Williams. "I play running back, wide receiver, punt and kick returner, and both defensive back positions."

If he had to choose, Williams would prefer playing on the defensive side of the ball. "I really like playing safety."

When it comes to describing his best traits, Williams has a few in mind. "I feel that I have great awareness and I love to be physical and hit." Williams uses that ability on both sides of the ball. "I play smart as well as getting to the ball quickly."

Stephen also has some things that he wants to work on to prepare him for college ball. "I'd like to get bigger and maybe stronger." Williams would also like to work on reading multiple coverages and improving his coverage skills.

Three schools have given Williams offers thus far. "I have offers from Auburn, North Carolina State, and Middle Tennessee." There are also some new schools that have begun to pay him interest. "Georgia Tech, Oregon, and Western Kentucky are three schools that have picked up their interest in me."

Georgia Tech A Backs coach Lamar Owens has been in contact with Williams. "He told me that they have been watching a lot of my film again and liked what they have seen." Georgia Tech coaches are making a determination on which side of the ball they like Williams and are looking at him as an athlete. "He said they really like me and an offer could be coming my way," said Williams. "I get along with him very well and like him a lot."

Williams is also making plans to make a return trip to Atlanta to see Tech play. He saw them open the season against South Carolina State. "I will be going to the Georgia Tech and Miami game in November and will be setting up my official in December," said Williams. "My mom really wants Georgia Tech and wants me to take an official visit there."

In addition to playing football, Williams plays basketball and runs track. "I play both shooting guard and point guard on the basketball team and run both the 100, 200, and 4 x 100. Top Stories
