Tony Clark Likes Idea of Being An A Back

Coffee County High School (GA) running back Tony Clark plays in an offense that runs the triple option. The 5'11"-190 junior plays B Back in that offense and his early leader is a team that runs a similar offense. Clark also is hearing from three other schools in addition to his leader.

Tony Clark and his teammates are nearing the end of their season and getting ready for the Georgia state playoffs. "Right now we are slated to play Camden County in the first round of the GHSA playoffs," said Clark. "We are looking forward to it and feel we can make a strong run at the state title."

The 2012 recruit is beginning to draw attention from schools in the south. One of those schools has his attention and is recruiting him the hardest. "Georgia Tech by far is recruiting me the hardest." The coaches at Tech have told Clark that they like him at the A Back or slot position. "With my school running a similar triple option offense that really appeals to me."

Clark's lead recruiter at Georgia Tech is A Back's coach Lamar Owens. "I really like him a lot," said Clark. "He's cool and easy to get along with." Clark feels the same way about all of the Tech coaches. "I've talked with Coach (Brian) Bohannon a lot and Coach (Paul) Johnson is always sending me hand written letters in the mail," said Clark. "I like the personal touch he is showing me."

In addition to hearing from Georgia Tech, Clark is also hearing from Vanderbilt, Auburn, and South Florida. "I would rank Georgia Tech as my leader followed by Auburn and then Vanderbilt." Clark has received offers from any of those schools but feels he's close to receiving an offer from Georgia Tech.

Clark will be attending one more game before the season is over. "Right now the only one I know for sure that I will be attending is the November 13th game at Georgia Tech when they play Miami."

Tony's speed and vision are two of the traits he relies in at running back. "I feel I have very good speed and my size is good for the A Back position," said Clark. "I also have great vision to hit the holes." While Clark feels he has good speed, he's working on his acceleration. "I want to work on my acceleration and getting to my top end speed." Top Stories
