Profile 2004 - Evan Gilyard (OL)

Evan Gilyard is a big interior line prospect from Georgetown, SC that has the ability to play his way into the division 1 level. He has good size at 6-2 and 283 pounds and good quickness with a 5.3 forty. He has a 3.0 GPA and should have no trouble qualifying.

Gilyard has a 300 pound bench press and a 400 pound squat, and it sounds strange to say for a player with a 300 pound bench press, but he will need to get stronger to play on the interior line on the next level. He has plenty of time to work on that though as spring and summer are just arriving.

Georgetown went 4-7 on the season last year, but with a multitude of juniors returning, including Gilyard, Georgetown could be a team to watch in South Carolina this year.

"We went 4-7," said Gilyard. "Most of the team us juniors though. I didn't play any defense last year, but I'll play both ways this season. I'm not sure which summer camps I am going to visit this season, but I'm looking at a bunch of schools. Some of the ones I am looking at are Georgia Tech, Clemson, Miami, South Carolina, and Auburn. I'm pretty open though."

Georgetown's spring practice starts in late May, and Gilyard is hoping to lead his team to the playoffs this season.
