Laskey was excited about the win over Tucker in spite of the injury he suffered in the game. "I started off real well but sprained my shoulder in the first quarter." Laskey found it tough watching the remainder of the game from the sidelines.but was happy that they won and advanced to the finals on Friday. "I've been cleared to play," said Laskey. "It wasn't a major injury."With his team advancing this far in the playoffs, the interest in Laskey as increased. "I have offers from Air Force and Navy and all the schools that have shown interest in me have really picked up their interest in me." One of those schools is Georgia Tech. Laskey recently received a visit from the Georgia Tech Coaches. "Coach ("Buzz") Preston and Coach (Paul) Johnson came by to talk with me and my family. The coaches told Laskey they liked what they've seen of him. "They asked me to come for an official visit and I will set that up and visit Georgia Tech within the next few weeks." Zach has also received a visit from Air Force. "They came for an in-home a few weeks ago and I have set up an official with them in January." Laskey feels that he may be getting close to receiving additional offers. "I feel once I take my official to Georgia Tech, they will offer and I feel that Middle Tennessee will also offer." Georgia Tech hasn't made a decision on where Laskey would play. They are currently labeling him as an athlete. "Coach Johnson says I could be an A Back, B Back, or an outside linebacker." Laskey feels that they want him as a B Back. The position he plays in college is not a concern for Laskey. "As long as I get to hit someone, I don't care where I play." If that question would have been asked earlier in the year, his answer would have been offense. "I really hadn't played defense that much until late in the season" Laskey made 35 tackles, had 3 sacks, and had one interception in the last four games. "I don't care where I play as long as I get on the field." The main thing on Laskey's mind right now is preparing for the state championship game."We are going about it as if it was a regular season game." Laskey and his teammates will go through the same routine they've gone through all season. "We are trying to stay humble but at the same time get our intensity level up as this game is for the title."
