Drew Savary is 6'7"-295 and is just starting to get attention from schools around the south following his junior season. "Coach Spencer spent some time at the school talkng to the coaches about me." Coach Spencer got to know more about Savary's grades among other things. "He also told the coaches that I'm invited to the Georgia Tech Junior Day this winter and suggested I come to Atlanta in January and maybe February for an unofficial visit."One of the things that Drew is looking forward to is getting some tips from Spencer on his visit. "Coach Spencer will be able work with me then to help coach me on various techniques." Savary didn't receive a verbal offer but feels things will start to get better. "Things are starting to pick up for me and I am still just a junior." Drew has also had contact with some other schools around the south. "I've been to two Auburn games and was invited by Alabama to their game with Ole Miss." Alabama has also invited him to take a visit. "I've talked to their coaches and coaches from Auburn and South Florida." One name missing from the list of schools that have contacted him is the hometown Florida State. "I was recovering from an injury early this season so I couldn't attend any summer camps and got a late start on the year." Savary also feels that Florida State recruits different body types for offensive lineman. At 6'7", some would think that Drew is done growing. That may not be the case. "My doctors say I have another inch or so and of course I can add bulk to that." During his junior year Drew did not stay on one end of the line. "Depending on the scheme, I played right tackle, tight end, or left tackle." He often lined up beside Tech commit Trey Braun. "Trey and I are very good friends." Savary has an idea on what he'll be looking for in choosing a school. "I'll be looking at the coach and players first and I'd like to play in the south so distance is also an issue." Drew has some history in Atlanta in addition to living in Tallahassee. "I lived in Marietta until I was in the third grade." Drew is doing well in the classroom but says his sister is the smart one in the family. "I work hard and have a 3.4 GPA." Savary will be spending the off-season hitting the weight room and working on his footwork and handwork.
