Trey Braun Visits Tech, Will Enroll Early

His parents (West Point grads) named him Michael Albert Braun III. But on the football field he's known as Trey Braun and that seems to better suit this 6-5, 300 pound offensive lineman from Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Braun committed to Georgia Tech in April during an unofficial visit. Braun recently made the trip to Atlanta for his official visit.

The decision to commit to Georgia Tech was an easy one for Trey Braun. "Georgia Tech enjoys a solid athletic reputation and an impressive academic standing," said Trey. "It's a good mix and was the best fit for me and meets my desires and needs."

From the beginning Georgia Tech was the choice for Braun. "There were some other schools and some in-state interest but Tech was my only choice."

On his visit to Tech, Trey spent some time with Coach Todd Spencer and Coach Charles Kelly. Both coaches took the time to talk to Trey about what to expect when he arrives at Tech. "They talked about what the football program would be like and we discussed possible majors." Braun likes engineering but is not sure of which specific area of engineering he'll choose. "I also got to see the football facilities on my visit."

Braun has compiled an impressive academic record at Leon High School. "I have a 3.8 GPA and this has allowed me to finish school in the next few weeks," said Braun. "I will enroll at Tech in January."

There has been some discussion with the coaches about which position he'll play but no decisions have been made. "It will probably be on the offensive line at maybe power guard." Top Stories
