Shaq Mason, A State Champ

Shaq Mason the big offensive lineman out Columbia, Tennessee offensive lineman Shaq Mason and his teammates finished the season on a high note by winning the state championship. Mason is still being recruited by other schools but is telling them no thanks.

Shaq Mason is still enjoying the feeling of being a member of a state championship team. "It feels great to win the game and become state champs and we feel honored to win it."

Shaq and his teammates went into the game feeling they were going to win. "We all had that look in our eyes that we were going to win." The Columbia High team had lost teammate Yelan Rebeor the day of the game. "We dedicated the game to him and went out and took care of business." In honor of Rebeor, the team will have new uniforms next season.

Yelan and Shaq were close friends. "We were close friends and the whole team rallied behind one another to win that game."

Mason was also happy for his future teammates Domonique Noble and Vad Lee also winning state titles. It's nice to have winners come in with you."

In spite of his early commitment to Georgia Tech, Mason still has schools calling him. "Most of the schools know I am solid to Georgia Tech however, some schools will call and ask if I would think about them and reconsider." Shaq tells them he is committed to Georgia Tech and has no plans to change his mind.

Mason's family is also firmly committed to his going to Georgia Tech. "They are 100% behind me and feel that Tech is the absolute best place for me as a student and a football player." Mason feels even better knowing that he has his family's support.

Next for Mason, will be his official visit to Georgia Tech. "I will be coming on the weekend of January 14th." Mason will be there with some of the Georgia Tech commits and a few other recruits. Top Stories
