"The trip went well, and I was very impressed by the technology on the campus," Lakip said. "I got to meet with (head coach) Paul Johnson – it was a good half-day."
In addition to speaking with Johnson, who gave the senior at Chattahoochee High School a verbal offer during the visit, Lakip also met with Coach Mike Sewak. Lakip said they reviewed some of his kicking tape together, which also impressed him.
While he was impressed with the visit to Georgia Tech, Lakip mentioned that he is still looking at a few other schools with varying levels of seriousness. For this reason, he is holding off on announcing his verbal commitment for a little while longer.
"I will be visiting Clemson this weekend," Lakip said. "After that, I will be done with my official visits and I plan on making my decision at some point next week."
Other schools he has taken a look at are Maryland and Auburn. Lakip said he visited Maryland a while back but hasn't heard much from them, and Auburn said they intend to grayshirt him, which left in disinterested in playing for the Tigers.
Right now, it sounds like the Yellow Jackets are quite high on his list, especially after today's visit.
"I know Georgia Tech has a freshman kicker, but it sounds like I may have a chance to play soon after I get to campus, especially compared to Auburn," Lakip said.
Following his visit to Clemson, we should know exactly where Lakip plans to kick next, but Georgia Tech is definitely in the running.
