Latest Trip A Complete One for Buchanan Jr.

Peachtree Ridge (GA) High School defensive back Ray Buchanan Jr. is starting down the same path that his NFL father took in hopes of making a name for himself on the football field. Schools are beginning to take interest in Ray. He visited one of them this past weekend.

Ray Buchanan Jr. had taken previous trips to Georgia Tech, including their game against Miami this past season. This was also Ray's second trip within a month. The latest trip may have been the most complete trip for Ray. "This was my third visit and I got to meet and hear from the coaches and tour the campus and facilities." The facilities part of the visit was one that stood out for Ray. "I was really impressed with the weight room and the team locker room."

Buchanan had a chance to spend some time talking with defensive backs Coach Charles Kelly. "We talked a bit and he asked me to send my transcript to him and to stay in touch." Ray has plans to call Kelly weekly and to keep him informed on how he's doing.

While he didn't pick up an offer on the visit, he hopes one will be coming. "Tech invited me to their summer camp and spring practices and I'd say they are recruiting me the hardest."

Georgia Tech isn't the only school showing interest in Buchanan. "Florida has also shown a lot of interest." Along with the visits to Georgia Tech, Ray has also been to Miami, Nebraska, Florida State, Georgia, and has been to Oklahoma twice. "Cal wants me to come to their Junior Day and UCLA has invited me to their spring practice."

In spite of the busy schedule, Ray has been able to make time to ready himself for his senior season at Peachtree Ridge. His workouts have helped to make him bigger and stronger. "I've put on ten pounds and I'm now 5'10"-180. Top Stories
