T.J. Gurley Shooting Up The Charts

Cairo defensive back Tim (TJ) Gurley is fast becoming one the top defensive backs in Georgia. His recent performance at the Orlando MVP Combine only helped to increase the interest schools are now showing in him.

The 5'11"-183 cornerback is now hearing from North Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Arkansas. "I also like Florida State and Auburn."

T.J. Gurley hasn't been offered by any of those schools but expects to get an offer from North Carolina if he attends their Junior Day on the 19th. "They say they really like me and asked if I would bring my parents so they could meet them and get to know them." Right now North Carolina is recruiting him the hardest.

T.J. has been to a previous Junior Day at Georgia and will be traveling to Starkville to attend the Junior Day at Mississippi State this weekend.

Gurley has also heard from Georgia Tech offensive line coach Todd Spencer. "He said that he checked my profile and that they would be recruiting me this year." Georgia Tech is a school that Gurley likes a lot. "If I were invited to come up to their practice or spring game, I would like to go to one of them."

Right now North Carolina is the leader for Gurley. "All the others are pretty much tied for my second place team."

The first thing that T.J. will be looking at in choosing a school is the education he can receive at the school. "I will also look at the campus to see if I feel comfortable." Gurley will also be looking for a chance to play early. "I'll be looking to see if I can get a shot at early playing time."

T.J. has not set a timetable for making his decision. "If I feel the school I'm visiting is the one for me and I have an offer, I might commit early. Gurley plans on playing it by ear and see what happens.
