Tech Recruiting Chungong The Hardest

Good Counsel High School has produced top football recruits the past few years and this year will be no different. Defensive lineman Roderick Chungong is one of the players in this year's class that is getting a lot of attention from college recruiters.

Roderick Chungong is happy with the way things are going in the early stages of his recruitment. "I am truly blessed to be recruited by all the schools."

Five schools are paying Roderick the most attention right now. "The main schools that I have heard from are Georgia Tech, Rutgers, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Louisville."

Roderick had one school in mind when asked which school was recruiting him the hardest. "Georgia Tech is sending me the most information and letters in the mail." Roderick is being recruited at Georgia Tech by defensive coordinator Al Groh. "He is the one I talk to when I speak to the coaches."

Although he's hearing the most from Georgia Tech, Chungong is not ready to name a favorite. "I'm open-minded about the schools and I want to get as much information as possible on each school."

Taking visits will be the next stage in Roderick's recruitment. "I hope to make it down to Georgia Tech when I go on spring break, which is the second week in April." Roderick is working out the details to drive down working around his mom's work schedule. "I have some family down that way so it is something I'd like to make happen."

Roderick is also hoping to make visits to the other schools on his list. "I want to go to at least three summer camps if possible and I'm pretty sure I'll attend the Penn State camp."

One of the things that Roderick will look at before he reaches a decision is the location of the school. He isn't against leaving the Maryland area. Playing time will also factor into his decision. My relationship with my position coach will be a factor and I'm looking for a school that has a communications major. Chungong also wants a school that develops players in both strength and conditioning.

Making an early decision is not a necessity for Roderick. "My decision will come after my senior season and most likely will be closer to signing day or possibly on signing day."
