Avery Young Update from his Coach

Four-star offensive tackle Avery Young has decided against conducting interviews while he weighs his options and collects offers, but he has several offers on the table. Instead, Chris Davis, his coach at Palm Beach Gardens High School spoke to Scout.com and gave us a little information on Young's situation.

"It's nothing against any website, he has kept away from all interviews," Davis said. "He really just wants to make the decision with his family, and he thanks everyone for respecting his privacy."

Young is a 2012 recruit out of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Young is light but quick on his feet, and several schools are interested. That list includes Georgia Tech; though Davis isn't sure how interested the Yellow Jackets have been to this point.

"I know that he hasn't been offered by Georgia Tech yet," Davis said. "Buzz Preston was recruiting him hard last year, so I know there's an interest there." Young has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina State, and Oklahoma.

Davis added that he saw Coach Preston a couple of times last year at Palm Beach Gardens High when he was making recruiting swings through the state of Florida, but the visits have slowed so far this year. Young has offers from eight schools at the moment, nearly all of them being national powers.

So Tech may step up their efforts to recruit him, and Davis said he expects to see Preston come around again this spring when most coaches return to visit with the recruits. However, the Yellow Jackets have yet to offer the junior.

Young will probably take the entire process to weigh his options, but if the GT coaches would like to see him join the team, an offer would likely be coming sooner rather than later.
