Marcus Hunt Begins Ambitious Schedule

Elite high school basketball players don't so much have a season as they transition from one schedule to the next. For 6-6, 210 lb. wing/small forward, Marcus Hunt of North Clayton, He has begun his ambitious AAU schedule with the nationally ranked Atlanta Stars. Along with notable teammates including: Tony Parker and Alex Poythress, they'll be off to Little Rock this weekend for a tournament.

The 2012 recruit has already accumulated twelve offers including a recent offer from Georgia Tech. "I got a call from assistant coach (Chad) Dollar. Actually, my dad got the call the other day offering me a scholarship."

Marcus Hunt is a recruit that was hearing from Georgia Tech prior to the coaching change."They had been recruiting me before Coach (Brian) Gregory but not heavily."

The offer from Coach Dollar came less than a week after he was hired at Georgia Tech. This appears to be an indication that Hunt is a big part of their future recruiting strategy. "Yes that's true. I heard that he was new."

Hunt is familiar with Georgia Tech but not with their new coaches. "I feel the same about them as I do about the others. They're all the same in my mind for now." Marcus has also picked up a new offer from UTEP this week to add to his offers from schools like Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia State, and Miami.

Hunt's recruitment will now take a back seat. "I'm pretty focused on the AAU schedule."

Once he gets back to checking out the schools that are recruiting him, Marcus will be looking at two things that will help decide which school he chooses. "Education and the team's style of play will be factors." Marcus currently has a 3.1 GPA.

Marcus will not be the only one that will be evaluating the schools that are recruiting him. "My dad is helping to coordinate my recruitment. He played ball both here and overseas."

Hunt does not have any current plans to visit Georgia Tech. "I've been there plenty of times for games but I don't have any plans to visit there or anywhere else."

The summer plans for Marcus will include plenty of ball. "I've been invited to a few camps and the Best of the Best." Top Stories
