Jackets Looking At Big Man Up The Road

At 6-10 and 210 pounds, Harrison (GA) High School's Marshall Guilmette (gil met'), is one of those prized commodities, a big man with all the skills, strong academic standing (3.5 GPA), and a desire to compete and get better. Scout.com talked to the Class of 2012 hoopster and his coach.

Marshall Guilmette's coach Robert Churchwell described him as a competitor whose all-around game includes his three pointers "We're working to make him stronger and on developing a jump hook " Marshall isn't encouraged to shoot the three but he's shooting at a 75% clip the few times he does shoot the three

Churchwell and AAU coach Ben Miller are in sync when it comes to developing Marshall "That isn't always the case with AAU coaches, but yes, definitely, Ben and I are on the same page and that really works well "

Marshall is coming off a pretty good weekend with his AAU team "My team (Atlanta All Stars) got to the finals on the Easter Classic in Florida with just seven players "

When it comes to recruiting, Marshall has one group of schools that has been recruiting him for a while and another group that has just begun recruiting him "I have about fifteen offers Clemson has been interested since my sophomore year "

The Georgia schools are among those that have recently begun recruiting him All this came about with new coaching hires "I have offers from Georgia Southern and Georgia State and both Georgia Tech and Georgia have been out to visit me at school "

Georgia Tech had shown Guilmette interest under the old coaching staff "Coach Gregory and his assistants have been out more recently "

Some of the other schools that are showing strong interest in Marshall include East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Tennessee Tech, UNC Charlotte, Belmont, and Lipscomb

Marshall and his coaches and family have talked about a plan for cutting down the list of schools recruiting him "We've talked and we'd like to reduce the list to the top seven or five…maybe this summer "

Guilmette has a good idea what he'll be looking for in choosing a school "Getting along well with my teammates, academics, playing style, the coaching staff and having a winning program are important Geography will also likely play a role in his selection "I've heard from Stanford, but I think my family would like me to stay closer to home We'll see "

Marshall hopes that he'll be able to make his decision before his senior year In the meantime he'll be occupied with AAU ball "I would also like to take some unofficial visits and I will probably go to 3-4 (summer camps) ECU and maybe Georgia
