Tyler Stargel: GT Is The Place For Me

Gulf Shores, Alabama inside linebacker Tyler Stargel and his parents made the long drive to Atlanta Saturday morning to visit Georgia Tech. Before the day was over, Tyler told the Georgia Tech coaches that he wanted to play for the Jackets.

It didn't take long for Georgia Tech to pick up its next commitment after the visit from Tyler Stargel. Tyler was set to go home and talk it over with is parents and head coach but the more he thought about it the surer he was about wanting to be a Jacket. Tyler called the coaches to let them know he was making his commitment. "I called the Georgia Tech coaches to let them know I was making my commitment to them. The more I thought about it the faster my heart beat and the better I felt about going to Georgia Tech. I just knew that Georgia Tech was the place for me."

Tyler's parents are very happy about the decision. "They felt that Georgia Tech was the best place for me both from a academic standpoint and from the football viewpoint. A degree from Georgia Tech says it all."

The coaches on the Tech staff played a big role in Stargel's decision. "I mean Coach (Paul) Johnson is a winner and Coach (Al) Groh is a defensive genius. I know I will learn from one of the best defensive minds in football. When he told me I was the perfect fit for his 3-4 defense and that he had high hopes for me being a dominant force in the defense, I knew I was in good hands."

Tyler feels good now that he's made his decision. "I am going to a great school that has great academics and plays football in a great conference. I mean I will playing against teams like Miami, Virginia Tech, UNC, and other powers out of conference. It is the best of both worlds. I can't go wrong with this decision."
