Pat Gamble made the call to Coach Johnson, Coach Andy McCollum, and Coach Brian Bohannon this morning to tell them that he was committing to Georgia Tech. "They were very, very happy and excited. Coach Johnson said he was glad to have me as a part of the Yellow Jackets family. Coach McCollum said he was glad and was anxious to get me there to have me on the defensive line. Coach Bohannon said congratulations on making a great choice and that he was very excited to have me coming there."
Gamble pulled the trigger because he always feels comfortable when he visits. "I felt at home and really welcomed there. I just knew Georgia Tech was the place for me and I felt it was time to go ahead and let everyone know what I already knew, Georgia Tech is the place I want to go."
Georgia Tech also having his major (bio-medical engineering) also entered into his decision. "When you add it all up it just shows me that Georgia Tech is where I need to be. I love everything about Georgia Tech and the people there make you feel welcome. Also, it is not too far from home and my family can come see me play."
Pat will not be taking anymore visits now that he has given Tech his verbal. "I fully agree with Coach Johnson's no visit policy. I mean if you are going to commit, you should stay loyal and true to them because Coach Johnson is going to do the same with you. You have to be a man of your word and I fully intend to do just that."
Gamble could play either defensive end or tackle at the next level but the Tech coaches have one position in mind. "Coach McCollum said that he and Coach Groh want me as a defensive end in their 3-4 scheme. And that is perfect for me."
Pat's parents are on board with his decision to attend Georgia Tech. "They felt all along that I would be going to Georgia Tech and they fully support and love my decision to attend college there. They are real happy and excited for me."
With Georgia Tech's summer camp right around the corner, look fo rGamble to be there to show his skills. "The coaches said they would love for me to come there and show them what I can do and even help out with other players thinking about choosing Georgia Tech."
Gamble is happy to have his decision behind him. "It feels great that I have picked a tremendous school like Georgia Tech. I feel like a lot pressure is gone and a lot of weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I can concentrate on my senior year and help us take the next step."
