On Friday, the 2012 recruit out of Bamberg Ehrhardt High School in South Carolina visited one of those favorites – Georgia Tech. He made the trip with 2014 recruit and high school teammate Kevin Crosby. But Aiken was sure to mention that the Yellow Jackets are one of the top schools on his long list.
Crosby was a participant in the football camp held by Tech on campus yesterday, but Aiken just made the trip to visit the campus and speak with some of the coaches. But even though Aiken didn't throw on the pads, he considered the trip to be a success.
"I met with Coach (Paul) Johnson and Coach (Andy) McCollum and they both talked about the success I could have as a Tech grad," Aiken said. He is in the process of deciding between GT, Clemson and South Carolina, and wanted to make one more visit to each school before making a final decision. He has set no timetable for making the announcement, and with all three still being dead-even, he may spend a little time before making the final call.
Obviously, having to be more intriguing than the two in-state schools on his top-three list is tough for Georgia Tech. But Aiken has said in past interviews that he would be very happy with the combination of a high education and great football at Georgia Tech, so the coaching staff has to believe that they have as good a chance as anyone to land his services.
As for Crosby, the sophomore linebacker said he had a really great camp that concluded with the Yellow Jackets extending an offer his way, so the trip to Atlanta was quite enjoyable for both recruits.
