2013 Lineman's Interest In Tech Blooming

Joey Bloomfield, a 2013 offensive lineman out of Trinity High School (KY), is so interested in Georgia Tech that he and his father packed up and came down to Atlanta for last weekend's camp because he wanted to see the campus.

"I made a list of schools, and Georgia Tech was at the top of the list," Joey Bloomfield said. "So me and my dad just packed up and drove down."

When he got to Atlanta, he found the coaches, who he didn't know before making the visit last weekend, were extremely welcoming to him and made the camp quite enjoyable. In particular, Coach Todd Spencer was most memorable to Bloomfield, but he liked every coach he came in contact with.

A junior out of Louisville, Kentucky., Bloomfield is early in the process of making a final decision, but he is beginning to get a feel for what schools and conferences he likes. Based on what he's looking for, Bloomfield seemed to be in the right place last weekend.

"I like the ACC a lot, and I like Georgia Tech," Bloomfield said. "I really like their run game and their great practice field."

Bloomfield said he did not receive an offer at any point during the camp, but he didn't expect that to happen, and the reason for his trip to Atlanta was just to get some exposure. At 6-5, 290 pounds, he says he is still growing and can play offensive tackle or guard.

He added that he is looking for an engineering program for his college career, which makes Georgia Tech a contender. But if the Tech coaches welcome Bloomfield as cordially to campus every time as they did last weekend, he may be a Yellow Jacket in the making.
