Omari Albert Camps At His Favorite School

Apopka, Florida running back Omari Albert made the trip to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech's July football camp. Albert hopes that his showing at the camp will lead to an offer from Coach Lamar Owens.

Omari Albert feels he put on a good show for the Tech coaches. "I think I did really well during all phases of the camp. I had good showing with my initial burst of speed, my hands for catching the ball, and my footwork as a running back. Coach Owens told Albert that he was pleased with what he saw.

"Over all, I really liked my time at Georgia Tech." Albert trains with Georgia Tech running back Embry Peeples in the off season when he comes back home. "We are pretty good friends. It was nice talking with him and a good many of the current players and in coming freshmen that showed up."

Following the camp, Albert had a chance to talk with Georgia Tech A Backs Coach Coach Owens. "He said that with my performance that I was definitely in the top three A-backs there are looking at that have not received an offer." Seeing Albert in person will help Owens to better evaluate the 5'8"-192 Albert.

Most of the schools contacting Albert are from the Big East, ACC, and the MAC conferences. Albert has a list of favorites from those schools contacting him. "My top school is Georgia Tech followed by Cincinnati second and Louisville rounds out my top three."

Albert has spent his summer visiting camps. Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, and Louisville are three of the camps that he's visited. "I've gotten my name and performances out there and so far I have received very positive feedback."

Omari would give serious consideration if he were to receive an offer from any of his favorites. "I would like to see if any of the others also offered." Ideally Albert would like to be offered by all three. "I want to major in engineering and the school that had that type of major would be a huge plus."

Following his visit to Georgia Tech, Albert made one more visit to Floridia Atlantic. "I believe that will be my last one for the summer. Albert will spend the remainder of the summer getting ready for his senior year.

Albert has shown throughout his career that he makes plays when the game is on the line. "I play hard all the time but it seems that I step even more when it matters. Omari is also know for his vision, his pass catching ability, and his patience in setting up blocks. "The main thing I want to work on is my speed. I want to get faster for the long runs."
