Will Adams was invited to the camp by Georgia Tech Coach "Buzz" Preston. When Adams arrived at Tech, he met with Coach Paul Johnson and was offered a scholarship. "He wanted me to commit but I told him I wasn't ready to commit."
It didn't take Adams long to make that decision. "I woke up Tuesday morning and knew that I wanted to go to Georgia Tech." Will called the Tech coaches the next day to let them know but delayed the announcement until his day returned from being out of town. "I wanted him to be part of the announcement."
Adams made the trip to Tech that Friday and met with Coach Johnson. The three of them met for an hour and talked about his commitment and what to do moving forward. "He's really an engaging guy and I could sit there and talk to him forever."
Georgia Tech began recruiting Adams when he was a sophomore. Coach Preston was always in touch with me and that meant a lot." Adams never imagined going to Tech but everything fell in place for him. "I made my decision in full confidence."
Adam's relationship with Coach Preston and Coach Todd Spencer helped to move forward his interest in Georgia Tech. "Coach Preston is a great guy and he genuinely cares about me." Coach Spencer and Will have a common bond. "We understand each other and he's a great guy to be around."
Previous Sandy Creek players Calvin Johnson, Andrew Gardner, and Isaiah Johnson made their way to Tech and that had an influence on Will's decision. "All the players that have played at Tech have left a legacy at Sandy Creek." Adams was aware of the caliber of player that Tech recruited from his school and he felt honored that they put him in that class.
Will won't be the first member of his family to attend Georgia Tech. His grandfather and uncle previously attended Tech and his brother is currently a student there.Videos of Will's Announcement:
