After having a strong summer playing AAU ball for the Georgia Stars, Hunt received over 30 offers from schools that watched him during the evaluation period. Marcus narrowed down that list after researching the schools that had offered him. "I checked out who would be returning for Tech, the coaches, and the way they play."
Coach Brian Gregory's style of play was appealing to Marcus. "I like the up tempo style Coach Gregory plays and I've known Coach (Chad) Dollar since he was at Wichita State." Georgia Tech was also the first school to offer Hunt.
Once he had done his research and made his decision, there was only one thing left for Marcus to do. "I called Coach Gregory to tell him."
Throughout the entire process Hunt has always liked Georgia Tech. "They were always on my list." Hunt wasn't recruited by Georgia Tech until Coach Gregory was hired to replace Coach Paul Hewitt.
When the time came to make his decision, Marcus made the decision on his own. "I told my parents that's where I want to go." His parents agreed with his decision. The decision to select Georgia Tech was his all along.
Now that he's made that decision, all calls have stopped from the other schools that were recruiting him. Marcus is glad that the recruiting process is over. "It was fun at first, but then it became tiring.
With the decision behind him, Hunt is looking forward to having the chance to sit back and relax. Georgia Tech football is about to begin their 2011 season. Look for Marcus to be a familiar face on campus. "I plan on going to some football games at Tech."
Marcus will also be trying to help the Tech staff complete the recruiting class. He has already talked to two recruits since he gave Tech his verbal commit. Hunt is hoping that his friend and AAU teammate Justin Seymour receives an offer from Tech. Seymour is a guard from Wheeler High School (Georgia).
Marcus has also talked to Shiloh High School center/power forward Robert Carter about coming to Tech. "He said, he'll think about it." Hunt will continue to stay in touch with both recruits.
