Like many of the schools that are recruiting him, Tyree is just finishing his preseason camp. "I'm real excited about my final year of high school football. It has gone by so quick that I really want to take my time and enjoy my final year."
Heading into his senior season Tyree has accumulated numerous offers. "I have offers from Maryland, Boston College, Connecticut, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and Iowa." Tyree is also receiving interest from Oregon and Penn State."
Georgia Tech entered the picture after Jevon had received calls from his recruiting coach Joe Speed. Jevon made the trip to Atlanta to watch his brother graduate from law enforcement school. "I took a visit over to the school and feel in love with what I saw."
Tyree received a tour of the campus and came away impressed. Jevon talked to the academic advisors, players, and had a chance to watch practice. Following practice Coach Paul Johnson officially extended an offer to Tyree. "It was great talking with him and what made it better was that he did offer me himself." Jevon was glad he was able to make the trip happen.
Leaving Atlanta with an offer helped to move Georgia Tech up Jevon's list. "I like them a lot. "I have family around there which is a big plus and they run the same type of offense we do in high school but on a higher level." Tyree now has Georgia Tech as one of his favorites.
Jevon is not in a hurry to make a decision. "I want to remain open until my senior year is over because as I said it is my last year and I want to go out on a very positive note and put forth the best effort I can without many distractions." Jevon won't start thinking about a top list or even making a decision until after the season.
The South Brunswick school district doesn't start school until mid September. We start a little later than most other schools. I feel that December is the right time for me and especially my school and teammates for me to make my decision."
As an athlete who plays multiple positions, not all the schools are recruiting him for the same position. Some schools are recruiting Jevon for the secondary and some are recruiting him as running back. "Both sides have their positives so I'll let the coaches choose the position." Tyree is 5' 10 ½-175 pounds and his best forty time is a 4.3.
Jevon has not decided what his major will be. "I do know that whatever way I go, I should be successful as I apply myself with everything I have to whatever I do. I don't do anything unless I give it my very best effort."
