Offers are Piling Up For Monte Morris

One of the ingredients to greatness in sports…may be a good nickname. No worries. Monte (Mon tay') "Man-Man" Morris has such a moniker. The 6-3 , 165 pound point guard from little Flint (MI) Beecher high school, Class of 2013, is in Tech's recruiting sites.

Monte Morris is getting early attention from Georgia Tech Coach Brian Gregory and his assistant Josh Postorino. They have already been to see him three times. "Coach Posterino was just here and Coach Gregory has also been up to see me work out." Both coaches have told Morris that they want him to be a part of their program.

The offers are starting to come in for Morris. Beside Georgia Tech, He's received offers from Penn State, USC, Providence, Arizona State, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.

Monte is working on taking an unofficial visit to visit Georgia Tech as soon as possible. The trip to Atlanta would be the first for Morris. "I've only been at the airport. It wasn't my destination."

Morris plays for a school that is known for their basketball in Michigan. "We have ten returning players and even though we have 470 students, we play a lot of teams in Class A and B in the state."

When looking at schools, Morris is looking at two things. "Number one is the style of play and I like up tempo, just like Georgia Tech plays. Second is movement of players…how many graduate."

If things go as planned, Monte is looking to make his college choice after his junior season of basketball. He'll have help in making that decision. "My mom, aunt, uncle, and coach will help."

If you're wondering how Monte got his nickname, he has a simple explanation. "My mom gave it to me when I was little."

Grades will not be an issue for Morris when choosing a school. He currently has a 3.6 GPA. Top Stories
