Jackets Recruiting On Small Scales

2013 prospect Kyle Scales made a visit to Georgia Tech on Thursday night for the Yellow Jackets' game against Virginia Tech and saw some things that made him really like the football program.

A junior running back out of Greater Atlanta Christian, Kyle Scales said he has been making numerous visits in the past month and is beginning to get serious about possible schools to attend for college ball. So far, Georgia Tech has caught his eye for a number of reasons.

"I really like GT," Scales said. "I could get a great education and their campus is great."

As for his visit Thursday night, Scales said that he had a memorable night despite the Jackets loss. Even if it wasn't the outcome the home crowd would have liked to see, the electricity of Bobby Dodd Stadium got Scales pumped up.

"The atmosphere was great – I loved the lights of downtown shining down," Scales said.

Scales has stayed in touch with recruiting coordinator Andy McCollum, and the coach has informed Scales that GT will extend an offer his way if he can gain some weight. At 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, he's eyeing an A-back slot if he were to choose Georgia Tech. That gave him a chance to watch the offense closely on Thursday night and see if he'd be a good fit.

"I love the offense," Scales said. "They run a lot, but the option also gives the running backs a chance to run routes too, which I love to do."

Greater Atlanta Christian also has a 2012 recruit that committed to GT – offensive lineman Chase Roberts – so Scales has a teammate that can give him plenty of information about Georgia Tech and the football program. With Roberts having GT grads in his family, and the intent for Chase to become one himself, you'd have to think Scales is only hearing good things about Tech.

But Scales has over a year to make a final decision on whether he'll attend Georgia Tech or another school, and right now, he says he's just trying to visit as many schools as possible before he has to make a list of favorites.
