D.J. White - Commit #12

D.J. White has committed to Georgia Tech following a weekend trip that showed him everything he needed to know about the university and football program. The cornerback from Union Grove (GA) High School in McDonough de-committed from South Florida days ago, then made an official visit to Atlanta this weekend to make his final decision.

"It was a great trip – I loved everything about it," D.J. White said. "I actually committed this (Sunday) morning. I gave Coach Paul Johnson a big hug."

The embrace was the final step in a long week that began with White opening his options back up and spending the weekend touring the GT campus, giving a final look at the football facilities and deciding that he wants to spend his football career in Atlanta.

White also spent most of the weekend mingling with other Tech recruits, some of whom were already committed to the program. Speaking with those recruits must have made him think about committing to the program as well, and one of the fellow recruits that he spent time talking to was quarterback Darion Monroe.

Redshirt-freshman defensive end Anthony Williams hosted White for the weekend visit, and White said he was happy to have the chance to meet with the current players and get their thoughts on being a Yellow Jacket.

"Anthony told me to just make sure I make the right decision," White said. In the end, committing to Georgia Tech must have been the right decision for White since he notified the coaches that he was committed to the program before he even left campus. And even though he was once committed to another school, White said that this is the end of the road for him.

"This is the final visit to any school for me," White said.
