Sophomore Staley Gaining Early Attention

His resume is already chocked with impressive information, even as just a high school sophomore. To start with, southpaw Elijah Staley is 6-7- 200 pounds. Add to that his half brother is Patrick Ewing, Jr. He is a starter on one of Georgia's top hoop programs at Marietta's Wheeler High School.

Prior to his sophomore season, Elijah Staley made the move down Interstate 75 from Harrison High School to Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. "Wheeler has a solid program and I thought the exposure of playing there would be good for me."

Even though he is only a sophomore, Staley is getting attention from some top programs and has already received offers from Georgia Tech and Georgetown. Based on his performance at Wheeler, one can expect that more offers are on the way.

Staley is always looking for ways to improve his game. This season he has been working on his ball handling skills. He'll continue to work on those skills this summer with the Worldwide AAU team.

Elijah has a good idea of what he'll be looking for in making his college choice. "First on my list is a team that plays my style…fast tempo." Geography will not be a deterrent in making his choice aside from one preference. "I do want to stay where the weather's warm though."

Staley will be looking to his family and coaches when it comes time to make his college choice. "I'll also be getting help from my half brother, Patrick Ewing Jr." Ewing is currently playing for Reno in the NBA Developmental League. Top Stories
