Kevin Delgado Has Desire For Engineering

Coral Park (Miami) offensive lineman Kevin Delgado is not just drawing attention for his football skills. He is also nationally ranked in the shot put and schools have also begun to offer him scholarships for track and field.

The 6'6"-340 Kevin Delgado plays left tackle for Coral Park. "That is where all the coaches that I have talked with say I project to be in college." They all feel he is better suited to play on the offensive side of the ball.

Five southeastern schools have recently begun to show interest in Delgado. "The schools I have heard from most recently have been Florida, Florida State, UCF, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech."

They join a list of schools like Miami, Alabama and Nebraska that had previously been recruiting Delgado.

Kevin has been in contact with Georgia Tech receivers coach "Buzz" Preston. Kevin has returned the interest. "They have an excellent engineering program and I really want to study engineering in college."

There are two factors that Kevin will be looking at in choosing a school. "I want to major in an engineering field and the weather at the school will play a part in my decision."

Delgado's participation in the shot put and discus will limit his Junior Days and spring visits. "That is taking up all of my time."

Kevin is nationally ranked in the shot and many of the schools recruiting him are recruiting him for both football and track and field.

Coral Park runs a spread offense and Kevin feels that pass blocking is what he does best. "I feel that I can improve on my run blocking before I get to college." Top Stories
