Three Stand Out For Harold Atkinson

Considered to be one of the top recruits in South Carolina for the class of 2013, Harold Atkinson has not been able to visit as many college campuses as he would have liked. However, that has not stopped him from starting to narrow thing down in the recruiting process.

Currently holding offers from NC State and Minnesota, Harold Atkinson says that three schools currently stand as his favorites.

"I've got three schools that stand out," Atkinson commented. "They are South Carolina, NC State and Georgia Tech. They are all close to home and I love what all of them are doing with their programs."

Atkinson has scheduled to attend Junior Days at South Carolina and NC State, but he has continued to keep a strong bond with the coaching staff at Georgia Tech. He traveled to Atlanta to get an up close look at the Yellow Jacket program last spring, and he continues to talk to Georgia Tech coach Mike Sewak on a regular basis.

"We're pretty tight," Atkinson said of his relationship of Coach Sewak. "We know each other pretty well and I really like him. He makes me feel comfortable and he is a really nice guy. He also checks on me to make sure that my grades are doing okay"

Even though Atkinson has not taken a visit to Georgia Tech after the start of his junior season, he says that he plans on tripping to Georgia Tech sometime during the summer or next season. Regardless of the fact that he has never seen a Yellow Jacket game in person, Atkinson says that he is a huge fan of the Georgia Tech offense.

"I love it. Running the ball is my thing, so I think it is a great offense. It is hard to stop and it isn't something that you see a whole lot, so it makes it difficult to defend."

Although Atkinson still has not had the opportunity to take many unofficial visits, he says that he is very sure of what he is looking for out of a program.

"I'm looking for somewhere that is going to treat my family right. I am going to try to take away the football aspect of the decision and try to focus on other things, such as the environment and academics and things like that." Top Stories
