Davin described the visit as being great and he had something waiting for him when he got there. "I had an offer waiting for me to come play football at Georgia Tech."
Bellamy's high school coach has been sending out film and Coach Al Groh liked what he saw on the film. "He said he really loved my film and he was excited to extend an offer to me."
Coach Groh feels that Bellamy can be the prototypical outside linebacker in his 3-4 defensive scheme. "It was honor and humbling to hear him say that. I mean he has 44 years of coaching defense and has coached in the NFL including the Super Bowl." Davin likes the fact that Coach Groh has coached greats like Lawrence Taylor."Just know he could possibly be my defensive coordinator if I came to Georgia Tech is awesome."
Bellamy's recruiting Coach at Georgia Tech is Coach Joe Speed. Bellamy also had a chance to talk to him. "He says he want me at Georgia tech a lot and would love to be able to coach me."
It was easy for Davin to see that Coach Speed cares about his players. "He made sure I had all my questions answered and he even went out of his way to make sure my mom was okay and answered anything she wanted to know. I can tell he is a great coach and can relate to the players very well."
Davin also had to see the football facilities, the student center, and the academic side of things on his visit. The best part of the trip, however, was knowing that Coach Groh would be his defensive coordinator if he played at Georgia Tech. "Don't get me wrong, all the facilities, players, and academic offerings are top notch, but to be able to play for a coach that has his resume is something that I like a lot."
Bellamy doesn't have any plans right now to return to Tech. "If the coaches there wanted me to come back for something I definitely would as I like being there. Davin did say that he would likely go to somepractices and the spring game. The next move for Bellamy will be to sit down with his high school coach and decide where he'll visit next. "I mostly run that stuff through him."
One thing is for sure, though - the visit to Georgia Tech put them high on Bellamy's list.
