Cox Comes Down To Tech's Campus

Dacula (GA) running back Marcus Cox was unable to attend Georgia Tech's Junior Day last Saturday because of a scheduled SAT test. Instead, Cox visited campus a day early and got to see the football and academic side of Georgia Tech.

Marcus Cox wanted to get down to the campus and check things out and meet his new recruiting coach, Coach Mike Sewak. "He has been assigned the area my high school is in and we wanted to meet one another."

The two of them hit it off right away. "He let me know that he will be watching me and staying in contact with me as much as he is allowed." Cox will also keep Coach Sewak informed about his recruitment.

After meeting with Coach Sewak, Cox toured the campus and met with the academic people. Meeting the academic people was the one thing that stood out to Marcus. "They give you all the support you need. The coaches make sure the players take of business in the classroom."

Cox also got to see the locker room, weight room, where he talked with the strength and conditioning coaches, the new players lounge, student center and indoor football practice field. "I mean it was great."

In addition to meeting with Coach Sewak, Marcus also talked with A Backs Coach Lamar Owens. "He said was he was really glad I came down to visit and he wanted to talk with me. Coach Owens liked what he saw from Cox and likes him at the A Back position. "He wants me to come back as often as I can."

It was hard for Marcus to decide what he like best about the visit. Cox was impressed new facilities, the coaches, and the academic support. "I can't really put a finger on one thing and say it was better than the other because all of it was great."

Cox will be returning to Tech when they begin spring practice and hopes to go to as many practices as possible as well as the spring game. "I will also be coming to the camp at Georgia Tech this summer."

"Georgia Tech is one of the schools at the top for me." Cox is also hearing from Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, North Carolina, and Western Kentucky. "I am going to Western Kentucky this weekend and the next weekend I will be going to Georgia."

Marcus will be busy this summer attending various camps. "Right now I think I will be going to camps at Auburn, Clemson, and North Carolina along with the one at Georgia Tech." Top Stories
