Jay Ellison Has Big Plans For The Future

Defensive tackle James "Jay" Ellison has been told by the Georgia Tech coaching staff that he is definitely a valued commodity in the Class of 2013, but it has been a while since he has been on the Atlanta campus.

Jay Ellison did make the trip to Atlanta this spring for any of Georgia Tech's Junior Days. His last visit to the Flats was over the summer, when he visited Georgia Tech for their summer camp and received an offer from the Yellow Jackets in June. Since then, he has been in touch with recruiting coordinator "Buzz" Preston, and he said the coach paid him a visit at Harris County (GA) High School.

"He told me they really want me down there," Ellison said. "He said they have a spot for me and I'd be a big pick-up for them and their recruiting class."

Ellison insists that he is giving every team on his radar an equal chance to land him, and the Yellow Jackets are no exception. Since the summer camp at Georgia Tech, Ellison has been trying out several universities to see how he feels at each, which he says is the most important factor when it comes to making a final decision.

The Yellow Jackets are hoping to get Ellison back on campus this summer to show him the ropes again. Ellison said he hopes to visit GT again this summer, so Paul Johnson and staff will have a chance to woo him then.

The junior from Hamilton, Ga. said he has big plans for his future – he mentioned he wants to attend a school where the football team has a chance to make a run at a national title – he also has set goals for his upcoming senior season at Harris County High. Ellison said he would like to help his team to a winning record and playoff berth, and personally, he'd like to notch 10 or more sacks and double-digit tackles for loss.
