As he waits for his first offer, the junior from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga. is hoping the Yellow Jackets come calling, so he made sure to stay on the coaches' minds by attending Saturday's spring workout as a bystander.
"I got a good feel for how the offensive line works," Cory Helms said. "Their offense was really flying around."
The center said he had a chance to shake hands with and speak to coaches (Lamar) Owens and (Mike) Sewak, and having the chance to catch up with the Tech coaches gave him plenty of reasons to believe he could be a Yellow Jacket in 2013.
"They told me they want to sign a true center in the upcoming signing class," Helms said.
With the plans to return this summer to visit Georgia Tech, Helms is hoping that an offer will come from the Yellow Jackets between now and then. With other schools like Kentucky, Mississippi State, North Carolina and others interested as well, Helms may have a few options to choose from when Signing Day comes around.
Until then, Helms will continue to attend camps and visit campuses until he gets his first offer, and , that offer might come from Georgia Tech.
