Jay Woods To Trim It Down to Five

Jackson High School, Georgia defensive lineman Jay Woods has trimmed his 29 offers to a list of 11 schools. The next step in Jay's recruitment will be to trim that list to 5 schools.

The decision to trim his list to 5 schools will not be an easy one for Woods. "Those eleven schools are really recruiting me hard right now."

One of the 11 schools on Jay's list is Georgia Tech. When he can, Jay talks to his recruiting coach, Joe Speed. "He is recruiting me very hard." Jay and Coach Speed talk about a variety of subjects and not just football. "We have built a good relationship."

Woods has also been in touch with Tech coaches Al Groh and Andy McCollum. "Both of them tell me they really want me at Georgia Tech and tell me that they need me on the line." Coach McCollum has let Jay know that he wants him at nose guard or the 2 gap position. "That really appeals to me."

Not all the schools recruiting Woods like him as a nose tackle. "Most are talking to me about playing tackle but some have said they want me as a defensive end." Jay will not only have a choice of schools but also a choice of positions to choose.

Georgia Tech will be one of the schools that Woods will seriously consider. "I really like what they are doing there. I get along with the staff there and I like the players and recruits I have met from there."

Woods will be taking a few visits before trimming his list. Today he'll be visiting Clemson. "I should get there about 1:30 and will stay until around 4:30." Jay will be visiting Vanderbilt on July 8th and he also will be making plans to visit South Carolina.

Look for Woods to trim his list to 5 before he goes back to school. "I will trim it down to a top five and they will be the ones that get my official visits. Woods will make his decision following his official visits.
