John Marvin Excited To Come To Georgia Tech

Fort Walton Beach, Florida defensive back John Marvin made the most of his trip to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech football camp. Marvin's performance at the camp led to an offer followed by Marvin giving his verbal commit to Tech.

"Both Coach (Andy) McCollum and Coach (Charles) Kelly had asked me to come to the camp in early June. I came up to the camp with the mindset of impressing them to get an offer." The coaches were impressed with what they saw from John Marvin. John came to camp looking to workout at safety but he was moved to corner to see how he would perform in press coverage.

The offer Marvin was looking for didn't happen right away. "They called my school on Monday and requested my transcripts." Once his transcripts were cleared , Marvin received the offer. "I committed to Georgia Tech shortly after receiving it."

While he was at camp, Marvin also had a chance to tour the campus. "I love how everything is set up on the campus, the facilities are top notch, and I really loved the indoor practice facility."

Before he received the offer from Georgia Tech, Marvin was considering some visits to other schools. "Now that I got what I have wanted all along I have no reason to make those visits."

Marvin is looking forward to playing for Coach Kelly. "I like him a lot and my parents love him to death." Marvin's parents are excited that he will be playing for Georgia Tech. "I have family in the immediate area and my parents can see me play and they know I will get a great education." John plans to major in business management.

The experiment with John playing corner at camp worked and he will come to Tech as a cornerback. "Coach Kelly says I have the ideal size (6'1"-190) and coverage skills to be a great corner in their system." Marvin has played safety, corner, linebacker, and running back in high school. "I play wherever my high school needs me to play." Top Stories
