Gant Stands Out At Peach Jam

Many of the nation's best high school basketball players are in North Augusta, Georgia for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, a nationwide AAU tournament that will culminate in the crowning of a champion this weekend. Jakeenan Gant was one of the players participating in the tournament.

The first night of competition saw the Georgia-based, Southern Stampede 16U shine with a win over E1TI. Georgia Tech coaches Brian Gregory, Chad Dollar, and Josh Posterino were courtside to witness the win.

One of their stars for the Stampede was class of 2014 power forward Jakeenan Gant. The 6'7"-200 Effingham High School (Springfield, GA) recruit was followed closely by the three Georgia Tech coaches.

Gant recently had a chance to take a closer look at Tech when he made the trip to Atlanta for an unofficial visit. " I was at Georgia Tech the other day and I liked it a lot."

Tech is one of nine schools to have offered Gant. "I have offers from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Cincinnati, Clemson, Marquette, Ole Miss, Marquette, Xavier, and George Mason." The rising junior is not ready to name any favorites from the schools that have offered.

Gant showed his skills around the hoop in The Opening game along with a nice touch from the top of the key as well as from the foul line. J.T. has also been working to improve other facets of his game this summer. "I've been working mainly on my ball handling and passing."

While it may be a while before Gant makes his college choice, he will only be looking at one simple factor in making that choice. "I'm just looking for a program where I feel I fit in." Top Stories
