Williams making friends and getting offers

ELCA(GA) defensive end Andrew Williams has well over 20 offers. The 2014 recruit's visit to Georgia Tech last weekend resulted in another offer for Williams.

Williams received the offer from Georgia Tech head coach, Paul Johnson. "I have been waiting to get this offer." Williams and Coach Johnson were talking about his season prior to the Duke game when he received the offer.

"He mentioned that he noticed that I didn't have an offer from Georgia Tech." Andrew let Coach Johnson know that he felt he would be getting one. "He then said "well, we will fix that right now. "I am offering you to come and play for Georgia Tech."

Andrew and Coach Johnson have built a good relationship over the course of his visits to Tech. "He is a good natured person that will joke with you and you always know where you stand with him. I really like him a lot."

The offer from Tech brings Andrew's total to 25. Andrew likes to keep things close to the vest and wouldn't indicate if he has any favorites. "I have a lot of teams recruiting me and within the next couple of months I want to trim my list down to about five schools."

Andrew's older brother Anthony plays for the Jackets but he doesn't feel that will help or hurt their chances. "It would be cool playing on the same team with my brother, however, it wouldn't be bad if I chose another school." Andrew feels he has to do what is best for him.

Williams has plans to attend the Florida State-Florida game this weekend. He'll be there with recruits Cortez McDowell and Step Durham who also attended the Duke game last weekend. "Cortez and I are good friends. We text and talk with one another a lot."

When it comes to defensive schemes, Williams doesn't have a preference. "I feel I can play well in both." Most schools are recruiting Andrew as a defensive end with a few liking him as an outside linebacker. "I feel I play better with my hands down as a defensive end."

The 6'4"-238 Williams runs a 4.75 forty. "I should grow into a defensive end over the next year."
