A BACK - GT loses just 1 A back in Orwin Smith.
Robbie Godhigh returns as an incument starter. His 2012 season showed his playmaking ability as well as being the best blocker among the A Backs. Synjyn Days and Deon Hill will be the physical type backs that are especially needed in the red zone. B.J.Bostic and Tony Zenon will give the team outside speed and the abilty to contribute to the passing game. And, Dennis Andrews comes off his redshirt year and he should challenge for playing time. This will be a deep group that has a lot of game experience.
B BACK – No losses
David Sims and Zach Laskey are finally healthy and are finishing the year strong. B Back was the few bright positions in the Georgia game. Two questions to be answered center around Broderick Snoddy and Charles Perkins. Will Snoddy progress enough to get in the mix? And will Perkins recover from his surgery to become part of the rotation? With additional depth entering with the 2013 class, look for the possibility of Marcus Allen moving to linebacker from this position.
WIDE RECEIVER – Chris Jackson is the only loss in the depth chart at receiver. He was in the rotation but was mainly used as a blocker.
Michael Summers and Travin Henry are the 2 new additions that will challenge for playing time at receiver. Summers will be the vertical guy and Henry the physical possession type receiver. Summers has been a name mentioned as having a good redshirt year. Darren Waller and Jeff Greene return as the starters but their starting jobs are anything but secure. Anthony Autry will be the question mark as he recovers from his injury and subsequent surgery. He showed signs of being a go-to receiver for Vad Lee before his injury. Jeremy Moore moved back into the rotation the last few games of the season and will be counted on to contribute.
QUARTERBACK – Tevin Washington is probably the biggest loss on offense in addition to Smith.
Vad Lee has gotten a lot of reps in the last half of the season and his time has come to show off his athletic talent. The experience he's gotten this season will be important for the offense. Justin Thomas will be a big addition to the mix with his speed and playmaking ability. If he progresses as expected, one can look for him to be used in game situations where the team can take advantage of his speed and elusiveness.
OFFENSIVE LINE – All-ACC Omoregie Uzzi, Nick McRae, and Tyler Kidney are the losses from this unit. Uzzi is the lone starter not returning in this unit.
Freddie Burden and Chase Roberts will be valuable backups at center and tackle coming off their redshirt seasons. Raymond Beno, Morgan Bailey, Will Jackson, Shaq Mason, and Jay Finch have all been starters and have a lot of valuable game experience. Trey Braun, Catlin Alford, and Bryan Chamberlain will be valuable backups and all have game experience. Finally, Thomas O'Reilly will bring some good size to the position and is now eligible after sitting out following his transfer from Auburn. What was once a weakness a few years ago is now one of the strengths of the team thanks to good offensive line recruiting over the past three classes.
