Mandarian High School (Jacksonville,FL) defensive lineman Kingsley Opara is committed to Maryland but he is still keeping his options open. Maryland is hosting Opara this weekend in hopes of locking up his commitment.

Opara will be leaving for Maryland Friday. "I consider myself a Maryland commit. On the other hand, I am looking at other schools to see if the decision I made is the best fit for me."

Georgia Tech, Arkansas, North Carolina, and North Carolina State are the schools that have continued to recruit Opara.

Kingsley knows that Georgia Tech is one of the schools that he'd like to visit. "I am very interested in Georgia Tech. They are a school that has a lot of things that I like very much." Kingsley is working on setting aside some time to visit Tech.

Georgia Tech Coach Lamar Owens will be visiting Opara next week to talk to him. "I am sure part of that part of that talk will be setting up the visit. That is the one thing that has held up my getting an offer from Georgia Tech."

An offer from Tech might change things for Opara. "An offer from Georgia Tech would make it very interesting and give me a lot to think about."

When the time comes for Opara to make his decision, he has one main thing in mind. "It will all come down to who I think needs defensive tackles the most." Opara will also be looking at the academic side of things and he would prefer attending school in a big city. "If all of the other parts fit me and the school is in a small town, I won't hold that against them. Still, I'd prefer a big city school."
